Oli instructs Home Secretary to fast-track Prakash Tamang's citizenship

Kathmandu, August 28 — Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has taken steps to grant citizenship to Prakash Tamang, who has gained attention through the show 'Herne Katha'.

Prime Minister Oli contacted Home Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal Tuesday night, instructing him to expedite the process of providing citizenship to Tamang.

According to Prime Minister Oli, Home Secretary Aryal has arranged for Tamang's citizenship to be processed within two to four days. Tamang has been notified about these arrangements.

Additionally, Prime Minister Oli mentioned that there will be discussions about providing further support to Tamang once he obtains his citizenship.

Prime Minister Oli shared on social media: "Good morning! After watching Prakash Tamang's story on 'Herne Katha,' I reached out to presenter Bidhya Chapagain through a friend from the secretariat. Although she was busy and could not speak at that time, later discussions with Bidhya Chapagain and Prakash Tamang revealed that Tamang's immediate need was citizenship. Having citizenship is essential for opening a bank account and receiving assistance from supporters. I contacted Home Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal at 10:00 PM to expedite the citizenship process. Arrangements have been made for Tamang to receive his citizenship within two to four days, and this information has been conveyed to him. There will also be further discussions on providing additional support once citizenship is granted."
