Deuba to meet top Congress leaders for policy talks

Kathmandu, August 27 – Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has scheduled a meeting with Vice Presidents Purna Bahadur Khadka and Dhanraj Gurung, and General Secretaries Gagan Kumar Thapa, and Bishwo Prakash Sharma.

The discussion, set for this morning at 11 am at Deuba's residence in Budhanilakantha, will focus on reaching a consensus regarding the General Secretaries’ report presented at the recent Central Committee meeting.

Nepali Congress has planned a central committee meeting for August 28.

The proposal brought forward by General Secretary Bishwo Prakash Sharma, regarding the term-limit for the position of party president, prime minister, minister, and MP, has faced criticism from various quarters of the party.

Similarly, proposal by Gagan Kumar Thapa regarding the electoral coalition has drawn flak from the establishment faction.

Deuba has convened this discussion to consider amendments to these policies.
