Rabi Lamichhane denies responsibility for cooperative loan in Gorkha Media Network
Kathmandu, August 23 - Former Home Minister and President of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Rabi Lamichhane has asserted that he will not assume responsibility for a loan taken from a cooperative by the Gorkha Media Network.
During his statement to the Parliamentary Special Investigation Committee on Misappropriation of Cooperative Savings on Friday, Lamichhane clarified that he had not made any financial investment in the Gorkha Media Network. Instead, he received a 15 percent "sweat equity" stake.
A committee member told Ratopati that Lamichhane emphasized he had not invested any money in the media network.
“I only received a 15 percent sweat share and have publicly stated that I did not invest any funds,” the member quoted Lamichhane as saying.
Lamichhane also reiterated that he is not a member of the cooperative and, therefore, cannot be held accountable for its loan obligations.
