Rabi Lamichhane opposes statute of limitation on corruption cases

Kathmandu, August 22 - Rabi Lamichhane, President of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has stated that there should be no time limit for prosecuting corruption cases.

During a House of Representatives meeting on Thursday, Lamichhane expressed his disapproval of a proposed five-year statute of limitation on corruption cases, stating that neither he nor his party accept this limitation.

He remarked, "Since yesterday evening, I have received over 2,000 calls, primarily from young people. They are concerned about the imposition of a five-year limit on corruption cases. I want to make it clear, on behalf of myself and my party, to the entire House and the nation, that a five-year time limit for corruption cases is unacceptable—no ifs, no buts."

Additionally, Lamichhane condemned the police's arrest of Dalit activist Khagendra Sunar for attempting to enter a restricted area. He asserted that the state should not suppress the rights of Dalits.
