Parliamentary hearing for 18 ambassadorial nominees begins tomorrow
Kathmandu, August 12: The parliamentary hearing process for ambassadors recommended for appointment to 18 countries will begin tomorrow, Tuesday. Senior member Pashupati Shamsher Jabara announced that the Parliamentary Hearing Committee is set to start its proceedings.
The government had recommended ambassadors for 18 countries on July 30. The Parliamentary Hearing Committee will commence the process at 12:15 PM in Shankar Hall at the Federal Parliament Building, as per the Parliament Secretariat.
During the meeting, the Parliamentary Hearing Committee will review any complaints filed against the proposed ambassadors. A hearing date for each ambassador will be scheduled after discussing the received complaints.
Notable recommendations include CPN-UML Standing Committee member and former Deputy Speaker Shiba Maya Tumbahamfe as ambassador to South Korea, and Shankar Sharma, recommended for India. Former Chief Secretary Lokdarshan Regmi and former Secretary Chandra Ghimire are also among the proposed appointees.
The Parliamentary Hearing Committee will register and address any complaints received. Based on these, they will conduct hearings, and if serious issues are found, candidates may be rejected. Final appointments will be made only after the approval by the committee.
