Former UML minister arrested for gambling
Kathmandu, August 11: Eleven high-profile individuals, including a former UML minister and a prominent artist, have been arrested for gambling.
The police detained these individuals, including Buddhi Kumar Rajbhandari, a former UML minister from Koshi Province, at Gaurighat while they were gambling. Other arrested individuals include Bir Bahadur Rai, former chairman of Sotang Rural Municipality in Solukhumbu, and Purushottam Sharma, an actor known for his role in the teleserial 'Sakkigo Ni.'
Police recovered 100,000 rupees in cash from the gambling venue. Following their arrest on Saturday, the police have taken their statements. A District Police Range Kathmandu officer informed Ratopati that the investigation report will be submitted to the public prosecutor's office on Sunday.
The arrested individuals are Uttam Kumar Rai, Anish Tamang, Thula Tamang, Deepak Khadka, Bhim Bahadur Sambahamfe, Rabi Shrestha, Raju Mahat, and Madhav Thapa, who is reported to be ill.
