Kathmandu: A writ has been filed in the Supreme Court against the appointment and oath of the Prime Minister under Article 76(2) of the Constitution.

Khagendra Chapagai, Shailendra Gupta, and Deepak Adhikari filed a writ in the Supreme Court on Monday demanding the annulment of the appointment and oath of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

The petitioners have demanded that the appointment of the Prime Minister under Article 76(2) of the Constitution be annulled and a new appointment be made under Article 76(3).

Advocate Yagya Mani Neupane informed that the writ has been registered against the Office of the President, the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Secretariat of the Parliament, and the House of Representatives.

President Ram Chandra Poudel appointed Oli as Prime Minister on Sunday under Article 76(2) of the Constitution.
