Suresh Ale asks the authorities to halt the proceedings against Nirmal Purja

In the National Assembly meeting today, MP Suresh Kumar Ale Magar from CPN Maoist Center strongly urged the authorities not to take punitive action against renowned climber Nirmal Purja.

Speaking during Thursday's National Assembly session, Ale Magar emphasized Purja's remarkable contributions to Nepal's global reputation through his extraordinary mountaineering achievements.

He argued that Purja, who has set numerous world records, including climbing 14 peaks over 8,000 meters within seven months, should only face minor penalties if any action is necessary.

Ale Magar condemned the idea of imposing severe consequences on Purja, calling for an immediate halt to any ongoing proceedings against him.

He stressed that while it is important to uphold rules and laws, the consequences for Purja should be minimal, reflecting the minor nature of any potential infractions.

Ale Magar also firmly opposed suggestions to ban Purja from mountaineering, arguing that such a ban would be unjust for someone who has brought immense pride and recognition to Nepal through his achievements.
