Prachanda to attend Modi's swearing-in
Kathmandu: Following the NDA's victory in 292 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, Narendra Modi is set to be sworn in as the Prime Minister of India for the third consecutive term. The oath-taking ceremony is scheduled for June 9, during which Narendra Modi and select cabinet members will assume office.
Several heads of state and government from neighboring countries have been invited to attend the ceremony. At Modi's invitation, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' will depart for India on Sunday. Among other invited leaders are Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh, President Ranil Wickremesinghe of Sri Lanka, Prime Minister Chiring Tobge of Bhutan, Vice President Ahmed Afif of Seychelles, Prime Minister Pravinda Jagannath of Mauritius, and President Mohamed Muizzoo of Maldives.
As per the central government's statement, President Draupadi Murmu will host a dinner at the Rashtrapati Bhavan for the visiting foreign dignitaries. The statement emphasizes that the leaders of neighboring countries have been invited in accordance with India's 'Neighbourhood Policy' and 'Sagar' vision.
