Nepali national drowns, another missing in sea off Portugal coast

LISBON: A tragic incident occurred near Lisbon, Portugal, where a Nepali citizen lost his life due to drowning, while another remains missing.

The incident unfolded in Montijo on the night of April 6.

The deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Dhana Bahadur Tamang, hailing from Katunje, Netrawati Dabajong Rural Municipality-5, Dhading district, Nepal.

The missing individual is Tek Bahadur Tamang, aged 38, also from the same locality.

According to Gopal Yonjan, President of Tamang Society Portugal, the incident transpired while the Tamang duo was engaged in a search for seafood in the waters off Montijo.

Tragically, Dhana Bahadur's body was recovered by a rescue team on Sunday, while Tek Bahadur remains unaccounted for.

Authorities are continuing search efforts in hopes of locating Tek Bahadur and providing closure to the community and his loved ones amidst this devastating event.
