Prasai challenges RPP Chair Lingden's capability in meeting with ex-King Gyanendra
KATHMANDU: Businessman and activist Durga Prasai, following a meeting with former King Gyanendra Shah in Simara on Monday, asserted that Rajendra Lingden, Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), lacks the ability to restore monarchy in the country.
After the discussions, Prasai expressed skepticism about Lingden's commitment with Ratopati and claimed that even Shah himself lacks confidence in Lingden's capabilities.
Prasai further accused Lingden of deviating from the common agenda by collaborating with CPN-UML in the recent National Assembly meeting.
Prasai clarified that despite the differences with Lingden, former King Gyanendra Shah has consistently supported his cause. "Shah has endorsed my campaign and encouraged me to persevere. His unwavering support remains intact for my upcoming protests in Falgun," said Prasai.
It is noteworthy that despite both the RPP and Prasai advocating for the restoration of the monarchy and a Hindu state, they find themselves at odds with each other.
The parties, despite sharing a common agenda, seem to be conflicting while seeking support from the former King.
The divergence is evident as both parties have independently announced separate protests and campaigns in Falgun, further highlighting the internal discord within the movement for monarchy restoration.
