Afghanistan chooses batting in decisive U19 Cricket World Cup faceoff against Nepal

KATHMANDU: The anticipation at the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup intensifies as Afghanistan, in a strategic move, has won the toss and elected to bat first against Nepal at the Buffalo Park Cricket Ground in East London, South Africa.

In the backdrop of Pakistan and New Zealand securing their spots in the Super Six with two consecutive victories each, this match evolves into a virtual knockout for both Afghanistan and Nepal.

The teams are aware that only a triumph here will propel them to the next stage of the tournament.

The tournament introduces a fresh format for this edition, where the top three teams from each of the four groups will enter the Super Six stage, commencing on January 30.

This stage involves two groups of six teams battling to determine the Semi-Finalists and, ultimately, the Finalists. Simultaneously, the teams at the lower end of the table will engage in placement games to ascertain positions ranging from 13 to 16.

As Afghanistan faces off against Nepal, the cricketing world is poised for an exhilarating clash with Afghanistan aiming to make a mark with their strategic decision to bat first.
