Police secures six-wicket victory over Madhesh, Sudurpaschim beats Koshi Province
KATHMANDU: In an exhilarating encounter at the Prime Minister Cup Men’s National Cricket Tournament 2024, Nepal Police Club showcased its dominance by defeating Madhesh Province with six wickets to spare.
Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Police Club efficiently restricted Madhesh Province to a mere 96 runs in the initial innings at the Mulpani cricket ground in Kathmandu.
The standout bowling performances by Sagar Dhakal and Lalitrajbansi, claiming five and four wickets respectively, played a pivotal role in this commendable achievement.
Remaining unbeaten in all five matches played thus far, Nepal Police Club has emerged as the only undefeated team in the tournament, displaying a consistent and formidable performance.
In pursuit of the modest target set by Madhesh, Nepal Police confidently secured victory by reaching 99 runs in 18.3 overs.
In another noteworthy match, Sudurpaschim Province emerged victorious over Koshi Province, inflicting an eighth defeat on the latter in the tournament.
Chasing a target of 124 runs, Sudurpaschim reached the goal in 21.1 overs, losing only two wickets in the process.
This triumph propelled Sudurpaschim to the second spot in the points table, solidifying their position as strong contenders in the PM Cup.
