KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has embarked on a journey to Uganda, leading a Nepali delegation for the 19th summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

Departing early this morning via Qatar Airlines, PM Dahal will address the summit themed 'deepening global cooperation for shared global affluence' on Friday in Kampala, the capital city of Uganda.

Accompanying PM Dahal are his daughter Ganga Dahal, Foreign Minister Narayan Prakash Saud, Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal, and senior officials from the Nepal government. The visit includes a special ceremony hosted by the Ugandan President in honor of the delegation chiefs.

During the summit, PM Dahal is set to engage in bilateral meetings with counterparts from attending countries. Foreign Minister NP Saud had previously departed for Uganda to participate in the ministerial meeting leading up to the main event.

The 19th summit is expected to focus on the ministerial report, review the implementation status of the 18th NAM summit, and pass a Kampala declaration. As a founding member of NAM, Nepal actively participates in the summit, aligning with its fundamental foreign policy principles. NAM, established in 1961, embodies non-alignment, a cornerstone of Nepal's foreign policy.

PM Dahal is scheduled to return home on January 21. Stay tuned for updates on Nepal's diplomatic engagements at the NAM summit.
