APF takes charge of customs check operations at TIA for enhanced security
KATHMANDU: In a strategic move aimed at reinforcing security measures and ensuring effective customs checks, a contingent of 30 Armed Police Force (APF) personnel, led by an inspector, has been deployed at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
Dr. Tokraj Pandey, the chief customs administrator of TIA, highlighted that the decision to involve the APF in customs checks is a response to the request at the finance ministerial level and the directive from the Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister. The APF personnel are working in five shifts daily, taking charge of customs checks at the airport.
"The direct supervision and engagement of the APF in customs duties are anticipated to elevate airport security standards and streamline service delivery for more efficiency," stated Dr. Pandey. This strategic move aligns with the ongoing efforts to enhance security measures and optimize customs operations at TIA.
