2-point agreement between top leaders to remove parliament impasse

KATHMANDU, Aug 23: Nationally recognised parties have signed a 2-point agreement to remove the ongoing impasse in the Parliament.

The top leaders of the 7 parties represented in the Parliament signed the 2-point agreement in the meeting held at Singhadurbar on Wednesday. With this, the ongoing parliament impasse will be lifted.

Here are the agreements:

1. In 2080, Shrawan 2, the gold that was smuggled illegally from the Tribhuwan International Airport was seized by the Revenue Investigation Department. It is well known that the matter is being investigated by the Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police. The Central Bureau of Investigation will carry out impartial research and investigation, and prosecute those involved in the gold smuggling.

2. In order to conduct an independent and impartial investigation on the matters such as gold being imported illegally (smuggled) through electronic cigarettes (vapes), gold being smuggled by hiding it in brake shoes in 2080, Shrawan 2, and to study and submit a report on the amendments on to the existing law, structural reforms and investigations related to the frequent gold smuggling to fully control such smuggling activities; the Government of Nepal will form a commission on 2080/06/05 BS in accordance to the Investigation Commission Act, 2026, and will start its work on the same day.
