KATHMANDU, Aug 10: The Private and Boarding School Organization Nepal (PABSON) has demonstrated a protest against the School Education Bill that is about to be passed by the parliament.

The organization staged a protest at Maitighar Mandala on Thursday. The protestors carried placards and banners demanding the immediate dismissal of the Bill and demanded equal opportunities in education and equal access to opportunities. They also demanded the government to improve the community schools and not to bring harm to public education.

Various organizations including the Private and Boarding School Organization (PABSON), National Private and Boarding School Organization (NPABSON) and Higher Institutions and Secondary School Association Nepal (HISSAN) have been expressing their dissatisfaction with the proposed Bill.

The draft of the Bill includes a provision to transform all institutional schools into education trusts within 5 years. The institutions have raised serious objections to the provision.
