KATHMANDU, July 17: Today is the occasion of Saune Sombar (Monday of Shrawan), the second day of the week in the month of Shrawan.

Shrawan is culturally renowned as the month of women putting on chura (bangles), mehendi and green-coloured clothes.

Women have crowded the Pashupatinath Temple on the occasion of Saune Sombar. They are seen putting mehendis in their hands.

Although today is the first Monday of the month of Shrawan, the fasting of the first Saune Sombar has already started on the 25th of Ashadh according to the Lunar month.
