Tax Evasion Commission officials sentenced to 9 years imprisonment

KATHMANDU, June 20: Officials of the tax evasion commission including the suspended Director General of the Internal Revenue Department, Chudamani Sharma, will be sentenced to 9 years in prison.

The joint bench of the Special Court Chairman Shrikanta Paudel and the members Yamuna Bhattarai and Shaligram Koirala has decided on a 9 years and 1 month imprisonment to the Chairman of Tax Evasion Commission Lumbadhwaj Mahat and 9 years imprisonment to Member Umesh Dhakal and Member Secretary and the suspended Director General of the Internal Revenue Department Sharma.

According to the Special Court, all three of them were fined Rs 2 billion 52 million 348 thousand 949 claimed amount and Rs 4 billion 104 million 697 thousand and 898 as punishment. Their punishment has been fixed on Tuesday.
