Budget for upcoming fiscal year being announced in Koshi province

BIRATNAGAR, June 15: The Koshi Province government is announcing the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2080/81 through an ordinance.

The program to announce the budget has been boycotted by the opposition parties Nepali Congress, CPN Maoist Center, CPN (Unified Socialist) and Janata Samajbadi Party, saying that instead of taking a vote of confidence, the government, which is in the minority, brought the budget through an ordinance contrary to the constitution.

Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki, who has also taken charge of the Koshi Province’s Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning, has been announcing the budget.

Provincial Chief Parshuram Khapung presented the policies and programs for the upcoming fiscal year on Wednesday in the Provincial Assembly on behalf of the government. The government has brought the budget through an ordinance, ending the budget session of the Parliament without discussing the policies and programs.
