U-19 world cup Asia qualifier: Nepal defeats Singapore in opening match
Kathmandu - Nepal defeated Singapore by four wickets to win the first match held today under the U-19 World Cup Asia Qualifier Division.
In the today's match held at the Padang Field of Singapore's Cricket Club, the host team was invited to bat first after losing the toss.
The Singaporean team was all out in 29 overs after collecting 72 runs. In reply, Nepal met the target in 17.3 overs at the loss of six wickets.
However, the Nepali team seemed losing confidence after batsman Sandip Sunar was out with just one run in his account and Asif Sheikh with four runs. The third batsman from the Nepali team, Pranit Thapamagar contributed 23 runs, the most runs in the opening match, to his team while Anil Shah made 19 runs, Prakash KC six runs and Dipendra Singh Airee mere two runs.
Rohit Kumar Poudel contributed 19 unabated runs to the Nepali team while captain Sandip Lamichhanne took five wickets alone. Sahab Alam took three and Kishore Mahato two wickets.
