“Radha” wins awards in three categories

KATHMANDU, June 2: The film “Radha”, directed by Subarna Thapa, has won three awards in the “La Femme Independent Film Festival” held in Cannes, France.

Director Subarna Thapa informed that the film won the “Best Feature Film”, “Best Actress” and “Best Director” awards. Radha was nominated in 7 categories including Writing, Directing, Acting, Film Set Design. Editing and Cinematography in the film festival.

La Femme Independent Film Festival has been organized since 2005 to give a platform to female filmmakers and characters. The film, written by Thapa, narrates the story of a woman’s struggle and endurance.

The film was also nominated in 10 categories at the NEFTA Awards organized by Nepal Technical Association in May. It will be held in Dallas, USA in July. Director Thapa is currently in America for the screening of Radha.

The film, directed by Thapa, will be screened again on September 15th. The film was screened on August 26th of last year but was canceled after 4 days because of unfair distribution by shows by halls.

Starring in the film are Shristi Shrestha, Saugat Malla, Dayahang Rai, Menuka Pradhan, Nischal Basnet, Khagendra, Lamichhane, Buddhi Tamang, Divya Dev, Pushkar Gurung, Pashupati Rai, Lokendra Lekhak, Rajan Khatiwada, and others.
