KATHMANDU, May 25: The Bhotojatra festival was completed on Thursday. It is a festival dedicated to Rato Machchhindranath, the deity of rain and bountiful harvest. There is a ritual to show the Rato Machchhindranath's Bhoto(the mythical vest believed to belong to him).

In the presence of President Ramchandra Poudel, Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and other dignitaries and the general public, the Bhoto of Rato Machchhindranath was shown on Thursday afternoon. The Bhoto of Rato Machhindranath is shown in Jawalakhel of Lalitpur. It is customary for the representative of the Guthi Sansthan office Lalitpur to show the Bhoto. 

It is customary to show the Bhoto on the fourth day after Machchhindranath's chariot is pulled to Jawalakhel. Accordingly, the Bhoto was shown on Thursday. Now the idol of Rato Machhindranath will be taken to Bungamati. A public holiday was also given in the Kathmandu Valley on Thursday on the occasion of the Bhoto Jatra.
