SC's decision to allow a case against me is not only a blow against me but also the CPN (Maoist Center): PM Dahal
KATHMANDU, March 7: The CPN (Maoist Center) has called for the prompt resolution of transactional justice issues after the Supreme Court permitted the filing of cases against Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal by victims of the Maoist insurgency.
The decision not only affects the Prime Minister but also the CPN (Maoist Center).
The party emphasized that this decision goes against the comprehensive peace agreement between the Government of Nepal and the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), which aims for political, economic, and social change in the country while adhering to humanitarian law and human rights principles.
This includes the establishment of a National Human Rights Commission, a Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and a National Peace and Rehabilitation Commission.
A writ petition was filed at the apex court earlier, demanding the arrest and investigation of PM Dahal, who has been accused of killing thousands of people during the Maoist insurgency.
