Transport workers' movement halts public transport in Kathmandu (with pictures)

KATHMANDU, Feb.14: The movement of transport workers have shut down public transport in Kathmandu Valley. The transport businessmen who had protested on Monday have called for a shutdown of public transport saying the government did not follow the agreement made with them.

Thousands of passengers are stranded due to the sudden stoppage of traffic. Educational institutions are directly affected by this.

Negotiations between the government and transport workers and businessmen have started at Singha Darbar. The government has asked the businessmen to withdraw from the protest program saying that they will meet the demand.
