Commitment to move forward inclusively
KATHMANDU, Feb. 6: Urmila Aryal has been elected as the Vice Chairperson of the National Assembly. The meeting of the National Assembly held on Monday announced that she was elected as the Vice Chairperson. She was elected unopposed as there was only one proposal for the Vice Chairperson of the National Assembly.
In the meeting, National Assembly Speaker Ganesh Prasad Timilsina announced that Aryal, a member of the National Assembly, was elected unopposed as the Vice Chairperson of the National Assembly as per Rule 8 of the National Assembly Rules 2075, as only one proposal was received.
After becoming the Vice Chairperson of the National Assembly, Urmila Aryal has promised to move forward by including everyone, instead of saying this party and that party. She said that after she was unanimously elected as the Vice Chairperson of the National Assembly, she would proceed without political pressure.
Aryal also said that women of every party have contributed to changing the country and some were martyred before they could even reach the parliament and the positions. She committed to doing the work by remembering all such events.
Aryal said that she is also serious about what policy arrangements can be made to advance women. "An agenda will be made on how to make the National Assembly effective. I don't mean to say that it is not effective now, everyone is experienced. They have come here with experience," Aryal said. "What can be done to make the National Assembly more effective? We have to play a role in that matter. It is necessary to focus on how to facilitate other female dignitaries," she added.
After being elected in this way, Aryal said that she will make a plan and move forward with any problems that may arise during the work.
