8-year-old child murdered in Salyan by slitting throat
Locals say, "He was sacrificed in the temple"
KATHMANDU, Jan. 16: An uncle killed his 8-year-old nephew in Bangad Kupinde Municipality-10 of Salyan. 34-year-old Dambar Puri, a resident of Majhkanda in Kupinde-10, killed Vijan Gharti of the same village. They are uncle-nephews in relation. Inspector Gopal Shrestha of the District Police Office Salyan told Ratopati that Dambar Puri was arrested on the charge of murder. The police recovered Vijan's body from the temple near Dambar's house.
The head and body of Vijan were almost severed with a khurpa(a short, cutting tool used for digging). Inspector Shrestha informed that the dead body was found with the head hanging from the skin part. Locals have claimed that he used to shiver as if possessed by a deity and sacrificed his nephew in the temple. The dead child's body has been kept at the district hospital for post-mortem. The police team reached the spot after receiving the news of the murder at 2 pm on Sunday. Inspector Shrestha informed that the incident is being investigated.
