Prachanda-led government to conduct 'Make in Nepal' campaign
KATHMANDU, Jan. 6: The government led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' is going to conduct the 'Make in Nepal' campaign. This agenda has been included in the draft of 'Policy priorities and programs of the government' prepared by the ruling coalition. According to the proposed draft, the government aims to make the country economically self-sufficient by encouraging domestic production and domestic consumption. Likewise, the government aims to develop the national capital. The government plans to achieve this by conducting the 'Make in Nepal' campaign.
It has been informed that the government plans to encourage the use of domestically produced food items, shoes, medicines, cement, etc., and to provide appropriate interest grants on taxes, electricity tariffs and loans to cooperatives and private sectors to encourage production. Similarly, it is also mentioned in the draft; the issue of protecting indigenous industries and products through customs regulation, establishing job banks, start-up funds, and business development centers to promote the 'Make in Nepal' and 'Made in Nepal' campaigns.
