UML preparing to bar FinMin Sharma from addressing HoR meeting today

KATHMANDU, July 6: Finance Minister Janardhan Sharma is scheduled to address a meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Wednesday.

Sharma will be answering the queries related to the Budget raised by lawmakers. However, CPN-UML, the main opposition party, is preparing to bar Sharma from addressing the meeting.

“UML will oppose the meeting. We won’t let Sharma speak during the meeting,” said Bishal Bhattarai, chief whip of UML.

“We have demanded answers from the Prime Minister and formation of a parliamentary investigation committee, not an answer from FinMin Sharma,” Bhattarai added.

Finance Minister Sharma has been drawn into controversies accusing him of involving unofficial individuals in the budget preparation process and changing the tax rates.
