CPN-UML demands to move impeachment motion filed against CJ Rana
KATHMANDU, June 7: The main opposition party, CPN-UML, has demanded to move the impeachment motion filed against the Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana.
The party in a Business Advisory Committee meeting held on Tuesday suggested the government initiate proceedings for the impeachment motion tabled in parliament.
Earlier in February, 2022, as many as 98 lawmakers of Congress, Maoist Center and CPN (Unified Socialist) registered the motion at the Parliament.
The government later formed an 11 members impeachment recommendation committee to move the impeachment motion registered against Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana. However, the committee has held meetings only once so far.
Here is what CJ Rana is accused of:
1) Rana has been accused of acting against the Constitution and misused his position
2) Lack of efficiency
3) Not fulfilling his duty responsibly
4) Acting against code of conduct
