Nepal to get 19 new members of NA today
The poll body has begun preparations to publish election results today itself.
KATHMANDU, Jan 26: Voting for 19 seats in the National Assembly (NA) is currently underway in all seven provinces.
As per the schedule of the Election Commission (EC), the voting will conclude at 3 PM and the poll body will begin counting of the votes.
“If everything goes according to plan, we will publish the results today itself,” said EC spokesperson Shaligram Poudel.
Voting is being held in eight voting centers and 14 polling booths placed in different provinces across the country from 9.00 AM to 3 PM.
The Election Commission has set up 14 polling booths in eight polling centers, of which two are designated in Province 1 --- Provincial Election Office, Biratnagar and Regional Plant Protection Laboratory, Biratnagar.
Similarly, a booth has been set up at Mahendra Narayan Nidhi building for Madhes Province and hall of Industrial Area Management Limited for Bagmati Province and Provincial Election Office, Pokhara for Gandaki Province.
Similarly, a booth has been set up in Ghorahi, Dang for Lumbini, Surkhet in Karnali and Dhangadi for Sudur Paschim provinces.
A total of 2,025 voters including provincial assembly members and chiefs of local governments will be casting their votes today. Likewise, as many as 43 candidates are contesting for 19 seats in the NA.
The main opposition party, CPN-UML backed by the Democratic Socialist Party is facing the ruling alliance that includes Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata Samajbadi Party and Rastriya Janamorcha Party.
