COVID-19 vaccine card mandatory in public places from Jan 21

KATHMANDU, Jan 9: One is required to produce a COVID-19 vaccine card while entering public places amid the rising risk of the novel coronavirus disease in the country.

A meeting of the COVID-19 Crisis Management Coordination Committee (CCMC) held on Sunday decided to recommend to the government to make the provision mandatory starting from January 21 while being in public places.

Once the rule is enforced, one has to show the vaccine card before entering public places including offices, hotels, restaurants, cinema halls, stadiums, parks and during the flights as well.

CCMCC spokesperson Sunita Nepal told Ratopati that the Home Ministry will have to direct the local administration for the enforcement of the new rule.

People can even show the photo of the card on their mobile phones.

Meanwhile, the government has also been recommended closing schools until January 29 to avoid the further transmission of the virus.
