House meeting put off till Dec 22

UML lawmakers obstruct Tuesday's meeting

KATHMANDU: The first meeting of the new session of the House of Representatives (HoR) has been put off until December 22.

Following the obstruction by the lawmakers belonging to the main opposition CPN-UML, Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota said that the next meeting will be held at 1 PM, on Dec 22.

Immediately after SpeakerSapkota began the House proceedings, lawmakers of the main opposition picketed the rostrum and chanted slogans against the latter for not taking action against 14 lawmakers including Madhav Kumar Nepal, Chairman of newly formed CPN (Unified Socialist), whom the UML had sacked. They also demanded the Speaker restrict the entry of those 14 lawmakers.

The main opposition had also obstructed all the House meetings since the new session began on September 8.
