Congress General Convention: 60 candidates withdraw their nominations

KATHMANDU, December 12: As many as 60 candidates withdrew their candidacy for various posts in Nepali Congress in the ongoing 14th National Congress of the party.

According to Tej Rawal, a member of the election committee of the party, as many as 60 candidates withdrew their candidacy by the given time i.e 12:30 PM.Yubaraj Neupane withdrew his candidacy for the post of President of Nepali Congress and announced his support for Dr Shekar Koirala who is also vying for the same post.

Likewise, Surendra Chaudhary also withdrew his candidacy for the post of Deputy-General Secretary of the party.

Remaining 58 candidates are those who had earlier filed their candidacy for the post of central member, according to Rawal.

Earlier on Saturday, a total of 548 candidates had filed their nominations for 134 positions of the central executive committee of the NC in the ongoing 14th General Convention.
