Peacekeeping Mission leaves for Syria
KATHMANDU, November 23: A troop of Nepali Peacekeeping Mission has left here for Syria to participate in the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) today. The 192-member troop comprises machined infantry, engineers, health workers and others.
The troop left here in a special flight of UN this morning. The UN Security Council had established UNDOF in 1974 to maintain ceasefire between Israel and Syria and to supervise the border area between the two countries. Nepali Army has been contributing to the peacekeeping mission since the establishment of UNDOF.
