Fair price shops come into operation from today

KATHMANDU, September 17: The government has brought into operation fair price shops in various parts of the country targeting Dashain and Tihar - two major festivals of the county- from Friday.

The government is operating these fair price shops in as many as 85 places across the country in collaboration with the Salt Trading Corporation and Food Management and Trading Company.

People can visit these shops to buy daily essentials like Dal, Rice, Sugar, Salt and Cooking Oil etc, according to the Ministry for Industry, Commerce and Supplies. These shops will be in operation till November 10, 2021.

In the Kathmandu Valley, the shops will be operated at Ramshahpath, Teku, Suryabinayek, Nakhu, Kalanki, Thapathali, Banepa, Koteshwor, Kalimati, Satungal, Jawlakhel and Bhaktapur.

Salt- Rs 2

Dal- Rs 5

Flattened-Rice (Chiura)- Rs 5

Atta- Rs 5

Cooking Oil (Mustard)- Rs 5

Cooking Oil (Sunflower)- Rs 5

Sugar- Rs 5 

Rice- Rs 5

Kashi/Boka (alive)- Rs 10 

Pulses- Rs 10

Buckwheat (Phapar)- Rs 10

Cooking Oil (Soyabean) -Rs 10
