UML Chair Oli criticises govt’s common minimum program, seeks govt’s position on MCC

KATHMANDU, Aug 10: Chairman of the main opposition CPN-UML KP Sharma Oli has said that he would again become prime minister of the country by winning an election.  

Addressing a meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Tuesday, Oli, who is also the former prime minister, said that he had become the prime minister through the people’s mandate but not through any mandamus. 

Oli, who addressed the House for the first time after it was reinstated on July 12, took his time to state that Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba 

was appointed the PM through an undemocratic process and has been backed by an unholy alliance. 

While coming down heavily on the incumbent Sher Bahadur Deuba-led government and ruling alliance, Oli said that the early indications are not good enough to predict that the government will deliver as expected by people. 

Commenting on the recently unveiled Minimum Common Program (MCP) of the government, Oli said that he would treat the conflict victims if the government does not  have such a plan. “You may send injured and physically disabled people to the Thapathali-based UML headquarters, we’ll look after them.” 

On the occasion, he questioned the government for not including the issue of Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) in the government’s plans and programs.   “Have you forgotten MCC or I could not find it?” 

He asked the prime minister to tell Nepali people about the MCC. “He should clarify this issue.”

Oli said that the list of programs could not incorporate the face of the ruling Nepali Congress, He said, “I wonder why I couldn’t find the Congress party in the government’s plans and programs.”
