Ruling NC has 854,711 active members including 443,668 newly added

KATHMANDU, July 27: The ruling Nepali Congress (NC) has a total of 854,711 active members across the country. 

The number of those obtaining active membership of the party ahead of the 14th General Convention was made public on Tuesday. 

A probe committee formed to investigate and sort out issues relating to the active membership handed over its report at a meeting of office bearers on Tuesday afternoon. 

While as many 443,668 new active members have been added to the membership tally, 409,033 active members renewed their membership. 

Of the total active members verified by the probe committee, 74.26 percent --- 653,438 --- are males while 22.62 percent (199,097) members are females.
