Madhav Nepal faction to boycott organizing committee’s meeting called by UML Chairman Oli
KATHMANDU, June 27: A dissident faction of the ruling CPN-UML -- led by senior leaders duo Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhala Nath Khanal -- is preparing to boycott the party’s 10th General Convention Organizing Committee’s meeting called for June 30.
The leaders close to the faction said that Chairman Oli presented himself to be against the party unity by summoning the organizing committee meeting .
Chairman Oli on Sunday called the meeting at a time the second rung leaders of the party are holding a series of informal discussions to reinstate the party organization as it was on May 16, 2018.
The Supreme Court, on June 10, passed an order that it could not recognize the organizing committee and invalidated all the decisions taken by the committee.
“As the committee itself is under questions over its legitimacy, he [Oli] called the meeting, meaning he is not interested in safeguarding party unity,” said Ashta Laxmi Shakya, a UML leader close to the dissident faction.
“We will not attend the meeting at any cost.”
