Leaders close to UML’s Madhav Nepal register NCP (United) at EC
KATHMANDU, June 23: A new party named Nepal Communist Party (United) has been registered at the Election Commision (EC).
Raj Kumar Shrestha, spokesperson for the poll body told Ratopati that the party headed by Jeevan Rai was registered a couple of days ago. Pen is the election symbol of the party, which was also provided a certificate of registration. The poll body had received an application for registration on April 19.
Rai, the party chairman, is said to be close to Madhav Kumar Nepal who is leading the dissident faction of the ruling CPN-UML. Other officer bearers include Kalpana Gurung (Vice Chairperson), Binod Khulal (General Secretary), Ain Bikram Kunwar (Secretary) and Sushil Khanal (Treasurer).
