Challenging Standing Committee, UML denies to withdraw its support to Sudur Paschim govt
KATHMANDU, May 26: Parliamentary party of the ruling CPN-UML in Sudur Paschim Province has decided not to withdraw its support extended to the provincial government immediately.
A meeting of the parliamentary party held on Wednesday denied the directives issued by the party’s Standing Committee meeting held on Monday earlier this week.
“We are not withdrawing our support to the provincial government immediately,” said a UML lawmaker, Amar Saud.
Earlier, UML’s Standing Committee on Monday decided to withdraw its support to the Sudur Paschim Government and called back the ministers from the party within 24 hours. However, the party’s parliamentary party in the province challenged the directives from the Standing Committee and denied the withdrawal of support.
In the 52-membwe Sudur Paschim Province Assembly, the UML has 25 members including 18 from the party’s dissident faction led by senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and 6 others are close to party Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. Speaker of the provincial assembly is also said to be close to the Nepal faction.
