Active cases in Nepal cross 100,000, positivity rate around 45 percent

KATHMANDU, May 13: Most district administrations across the country have enforced prohibitory orders for the past two weeks to curb the transmission chain of the coronavirus disease. However, the infection rate is still high. Infection rate in the country is calculated around 45 percent, according to the data released by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP). 

Nepal has been reporting almost 10,000 cases a day in the past few days. The officials confirmed 9,305 new cases on Wednesday. Those cases were detected through 20,786 tests, which means 44.76 percent of infections were reported

Nepal’s cumulative caseload hit 422,349. Of the total cases confirmed, 422,349 are active cases. Among them, 94,343 are staying isolated at homes while 7,291 others are undergoing treatment at various institutional isolation centers. Similarly, 1,241 other patients are receiving treatment at ICU beds and 285 others are on ventilators.
