Most of Solukhumbu's remote trails remain impassable
Solukhumbu - Transportation in major routes in Solukhumbu has been obstructed after monsoon downpour triggered landslides and made the muddy trails impassable.
Although the blacktopped road leading to the district headquarters remains intact, most of the roads leading to remote destinations have been obstructed by landslides and made impassable by ruts of muddy slush.
The route leading to three rural municipalities from the downtown has remained out of service for the past one week due to landslides and derelict road condition.
Soludhudkunda Municipality's Mayor, Namgel Jangbu Sherpa, said efforts are underway to open the road.
A local driver, Pawan Tamang, said it would not be easy to travel through the route as there were many more problems. The routes leading to Tamakhani, Junbesi, Kanku, Basa, Kerung, Taptiling among other areas have also been obstructed.
Chief District Officer (CDO), Umesh Pandey, termed the obstruction of trail routes in monsoon as not unusual, and spoke of efforts being made to resume vehicular movement.
