First world Kaski conference from Oct 9
Pokhara - First World Kaski Conference is to take place in Pokhara from coming October 9 with the theme of 'Campaign for Exploration – Our Movement for Prosperous Birthplace.'
Kaski Adarsha Sewa Samaj (society) international coordination council Nepal is organising the conference aims to form a common forum of nonresidents of Kaski district dispersed n various 77 countries across the world. Information about this was shared in a press meet here today.
According to council coordinator Purna Prasad Timilsina, the ultimate goal of the conference is to constitute a common forum of nonresident Kaski people and utilise their technical knowledge, skills and other academic expertise they achieved abroad for the overall development of the district.
Reviving the love for the hometown among the people from Kaski and currently scattered throughout the world and motivating them to contribute for the sake of birthplace is one of the objectives of the conference, according to him.
Minister for Law, Justice and Federal Affairs Yagya Bahadur Thapa who is from Kaski is scheduled to inaugurate the conference. Non Resident Nepalis (from Kaski) from over 22 countries are already in the town while others are on the way to their birthplace to attend the event, the council said.
Prior to the inauguration of the conference, a half marathon race (29 kilometres) will be held at Pokhara and the winner will go home with cash prize Rs 40 thousands while the second will bag Rs 20 thousands, third Rs 10 thousands and five thousands will be given as the consolation award, said council general secretary Gobinda Prasad Poudel.
These awards are sponsored by Kaski Society Portugal chief patron Ramesh Kumar Gurung.
