Waste processing plant under construction in Itahari
Itahari - A waste management and processing centre is under construction at Dumotakka village of Itahari Sub-metropolis-10 at the cost of Rs. 131.5 million.
The centre is expected to manage the solid waste amounting to around 35 metric tons produced daily by the Sub-metropolis. The plant will also produce compost fertilizer by segregating bio-degradable and non-degradable waste, said executive Officer at the Sub-metropolis Sagar Mishra. Efforts will also be made to produce energy from the waste.
This is a first of its kind in the eastern region and is expected to benefit locals and farmers alike with the production of compost fertilizer and alternative energy.
