Sanitation ID card distribution

Kathmandu - The Maijogmai rural municipality has begun distribution of sanitation identity card to the locals. The campaign began with distribution of a sanitation user ID card to Furtemba Sherpa of Naya Bazaar in ward no. 1 of the rural municipality. Under the campaign, 150 households meeting the prescribed standard will receive the sanitation user ID card, said the rural municipality Chair Jit Bahadur Rai. The ID card is being distributed to keep the locals aware of the need to maintain sanitation and hygiene in the rural municipality.

This initiative is also expected to be fruitful considering the need to maintain personal hygiene in the wake of the spread of Corona Virus. "The programme has been initiated with a special attention towards the health of the citizens," Rai said. The households receiving the ID card also contribute Rs. 100 per month to be used in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) activities, including collecting and disposing solid waste. The campaign will be implemented in all the wards of the rural municipality.
