Mahakali municipality prepares tourism master plan

Kathmandu - The Mahakali municipality of Kanchanpur has prepared the tourism master plan. The master plan envisages to promote tourism in the municipality by attracting as many as visitors to the town thereby contributing to boosting up the local economy. The tourism master plan includes project for construction of a Martyrs Park, a view tower, a big statue of lord Buddha, an ethnic homestay and picnic spots at 19 locations in the municipality.

It incorporates improvement of the approach roads to the tourism sites. Municipality’s engineer Deependra Raj Bhatta said the master plan also incorporated provisions for training and capacity building to prepare the human resources required for operating the home stay services, apart from the physical infrastructure development.

He said the municipality is planning to mobilise the financial resources for the development of the tourism infrastructures. In this connection, it has requested the State government and the federal government for economic support. The municipality has forwarded an economic proposal to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism for a fund of Rs 6 million. The view tower is proposed to built at ward number 4 of the municipality at an estimated cost of Rs 5 million.
