NRA helps centenarian landless to get land

Kathmandu - The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) has handed the land ownership certificate to a centenarian who was a landless till now. The beneficiary is Jas Bahadur Thapa, 101, of Mugribesi of Madi rural municipality-9, Kaski. The NRA helped the man get a piece of land in his name.

The post-quake reconstruction body said it assisted him Rs 200 thousand to buy the land plot. District Project Implementation Unit ( Grants Management and Local Infrastructure ) Kaski's chief Nawaraj Sharma handed the certificate to Thapa who said his ancestors had no land in their names and were residing in public land since the three generations.

He said he was happy to get a piece of land on his own name. Thapa was assisted Rs 200 thousand from the NRA to purchase land measuring 190 square meters from a local. The NRA assists Rs 200 thousand to those landless people residing in public land and forest areas to buy a piece of land to build a house.
