Two more deaths from COVID-19 confirmed on Saturday

Kathmandu - Two more people have died of COVID-19 on Saturday in the country. A 55-year-old woman of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City in Kailali district and a 58-year-old man of Jagadulla in Dolpa district have died from the infection, said Dr Bikash Devkota, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population at a regular press conference organised by the Ministry here. With this, the number of people dying due to coronavirus pandemic has climbed to 13.

The woman died on June 5 and the man on June 3 at a quarantine facility. The woman was receiving dialysis for kidney problems at Seti Provincial Hospital and the man was a patient with asthma. Swabs of the woman were tested at Seti Provincial Hospital and the man's at the Karnali Academy of Health Sciences.

The man had stayed at the quarantine facility on May 31. Following the death of the man, a team has been deployed to the Academy for a contract tracing. Additionally, 323 infected people have been found infected with the virus on Saturday alone, said Dr Devkota. Of them, 286 are men and 37 women. With this, the number of total infected people has reached 3,235 (3,003 men and 232 women). A total of 70 districts have reported infection cases.
