Agro sector does not see anticipated budget allocation - Farmers' Association
Kathmandu - The Nepal Farmers' Association has commented that the budget announced for the fiscal year 2020/21 has not allocated anticipated amount of budget in the agro sector. Issuing a press release today, Association President Bhanu Sigdel argued that though there is a good opportunity for propelling agriculture revolution to revitalize the COVID-19 battered economy and livelihood by spurring investment in the sector, the federal budget has failed to adopt the strategy in agro sector.
The budget has not envisioned plan to increase agro production capacity and boost employment opportunities, he said. It however has brought some constructive programmes such as farmer credit card and food store construction. The Association has called for the government to endorse the budget with clear framework of agriculture revolution by reviewing the budget.
